P0183 - Fuel Temperature Sensor A Circuit High Input
So, in the last two weeks the check engine light has been turning on and off. Sometimes stays on for a few days, then for no reason at all turns off for a few days,
So i go a OBD reader and got the P0183 code. Just this code. Nothing more.
For what i can google, this code is about the Fuel Temperatura Sensor A Circuit High Input.
Car is driving like always. Nothing different at all.
To solve this i know i most:
- check or replace the fuel temperature sensor
- check or replace the connector or wire, it can be defective
- check or replace the ecm
- check or replace the diesel fuel heater assembly.
Hope nothing more is...
But!!!
Where is the Fuel Temperature Sensor A located? Cant find it or see on internet were is it!!!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Can someone indicate me where is it?
My vehicle is a W204 C220 CDI 2008. Vin: WDD2042081F278198

I have a photo of the location of the fuel temp sensor but cannot upload it. There is no provision as there used to be.
Anyway a description will have to do :-
The fuel temperature sensor B 50 is at the front of the engine just above the Quality Control Valve Y94 ( a circular object which is located just above a small belt pully).
B50 is also just below the aluminium engine cover mounting bracket.
To the right of B 50 is the High Pressure Pump 19

Fixed it! Error message related to 2054-007 states: “The fuel temperature sensor B50 is open circuit or shorted out”. In my case the sensor still had about 1.6 kOhm resistance and 3 kOhm seems to be recommended, but anyway, I changed the part and have no more problems.
Take those fat air pipes off so you can see and work on the fuel temp. sensor. Pull out pin of clip RH side, remove (twist) pin in middle and on LH side squeeze edges in at connection to air filter. Have new part ready.. Ask Dr Google for photos of location of sensor. Remove electrics. Take 19mm tube spanner out of your plumbing kit or use a very deep socket as 19mm ring is not easy to use as there is no room. Install new sensor, suggestion is 23 Nm torque.
No more 2054-007 error on diagnostic or similar. No more “Engine Fault” light on just before your next service is due!
This error is also allied with the 2054-00 error: "The analogue/digital converter of the CDI control unit N3/9 is faulty" - not so. Your ECU is not stuffed. The software has no clue if it is the temp. sensor or the chip in the ECU converting the temp. sensor’s analogue signal to digital, so it lists both.
