A 10 year old diesel 220CDI . It is old technology ( and reliable). The modern diesel c class replacement has much better economy.

Won't lie, I would love some of the MPG's I am reading here haha.
I get closer to what dannyboy does, sitting at 14.8 MPG right now. I can get down to 9.3 MPG easy on my back roads. I will admit that's one area I'm really sad in with this compared to my i6 2.8L in my W202.
It was funny, I looked at my estimated mileage after a fill up, it said 238 Miles left so I guess it tends to stay at 15-16 MPG if I do interstate driving in my mix of weekly back road driving.
Jeez, I'm the lowest I guess, around 18mpg mostly local.
Nahhh, I got you beat...
I do quite a bit of city driving in L.A.... Then again, driving in stop and go traffic on an L.A. freeway can be even worse than city driving... When there is no traffic, I do get into a psycho-spirited driving mode...
I'm averaging around 26 MPG. The car is new to me, so I still accelerate and pass quicker than I need to at times, just because it's fun. This is also with the "ECO" turned off.
Call me crazy, but I'd rather suffer a bit in fuel economy than have to replace a starter that's firing 25 times per day.
I just did a 350 mile round trip from central PA to DC and back the same day. I was in a rush to get to my destination in time for a UNESCO workshop I was invited to host. My cruise control was mostly set at 80.
To my surprise I still had about 5 gallons in the tank when I returned that evening.
Now back to my usual city commute I currently drove 512 miles since last fill up before my trip, with 3 gallons still in the tank.
Looks like my very best MPG result in the making – ever – for me.
