Transmission pan & mount saturated in oil, service recommended
Above is the message on the report I got from my dealer re my 2010 C300 with about 32,000 miles that just had routine maintenance a few days ago. Message says the service should be performed immediately and will cost $673. I have no technical automobile knowledge and would appreciate any comments and suggestions.
Thanks.
9/21/17--Now they're saying that on further inspection the problem was that the transfer case was leaking. The dealer disassembled the transfer case and re-sealed it . . . and checked the transmission fluid. They charged $1460.
They told me that the maintenance schedule for routine transmission service that includes replacing the fluid, filter and gasket (for $673) is at 38,000 miles. That's about a year's worth of driving for me--and I may not keep the car that long--so I deferred doing that for now.
Thanks.

Out Of Control!!
I am assuming that you had the transmission fluid and filter changed under your comment "routine maintenance"----If that is the case you have two choices, return the car to the bonehead fellow who did the so called work, to do the work correctly or don't believe the $673 advice and run the car till you drain the transmission via the leak---then you will have to gain some automotive knowledge or sell the car and start over.
