Exclamation **245/40/18 Tires - Square Fitment**

Hello forum members,
First off, I'm sorry if I've posted this thread in the wrong section.

My question pertains to wheel and tire fitment, as per the specifications below.
Would this be a functional setup for winter / any rubbing or fitment issues whatsoever?
  • Car: 2013 C350 4Matic Coupe
  • Tire size: 245/40/18 (winter tires)
  • Wheel size: 18x8, ET42, 5x112 BP, square.
I imagine the rears will have no issue at all, however my main concern is the front & full lock turns.
Any feedback is appreciated.

(And yes, I don't love the idea of a square setup but this being for winter & not my car, if it works I'd like to give it a shot!)

I believe it would rub in the front, too wide and too tall tire.

This is what kind of perplexes me.
Did MB really leave that small of a gap between the fender and wheel?

Versus the stock 225/40/18 front tire size, the 245/40/18 tire is:
- 0.6" taller overall (only 0.3" closer to the fender)
- 0.7" wider overall (only 0.35" further in / closer to the strut)

I'm not denying your point, the tire may very well be too wide & tall, but I'm tempted to go outside & start measuring clearances at the fender with the steering on full lock.
Even that doesn't give me the full picture, since the suspension is at full height.

Why did the manufacturer decide to make this tire only in 245/40/18 size (?!)

Anything is functional year round if you don’t think so close minded like 95% of Mercedes owners. I run 19x8.5 +45 with 225/35/19 tires year round.

Cool story.

How does this response address the original question in any way?

Input regarding 19" wheels in a different size than what I asked is of no use to me.

Well noobie we have a thing called a search button as well. It’s on the top right spelled “s e a r c h”. Give that that a try sometime. Your listed front tires need to be 235/40, and I can bet you’re stock height like a vast majority of owners here who are afraid to lower their car an inch.

I may be a newbie here, but I've been on vBulletin since v2. That should date me a bit.
There's my cool starry bra.

You are right, stock height. Its a family member's car.
Doubt my 70 year old father is interested in slamming his C350.

Manufacturer doesn't make those tires in 235 width, so I guess I'll go with 225 stock size.
Thank you for your valuable feedback & education.

2012 c300 4matic
Question

I’m new here and have a 2012 c300 4matic. I found a good deal of blizzaks on some clean 18’s but the tire size is 245 40 18 and that’s a little bigger then the stock size I have, really want to try them but I also don’t know if it will mess with the drive train of the car... any input would help..
