Question Upholstery split/slit

On the drivers seat seat the upholstery has a 3/4" slit in the first layer, and next to it a 1/4" slit has appeared. I presume it is from the rubbing as I get into the car sideways since I have a bad back. Any ideas on how to repair the fake leather?

To repair that will cost you 200 at the most. Buy a new seat cover and install it yourself around 300.

If you have a non-marking mallet, star key bit socket/holder and pliers you can do the swap yourself. The seat is only held by two bolts on the front bottom side of the cushion. Remove those two screws, unclamp the plastic retainer and pull up and towards the back seat and just unclip the seat harness and it is out. Dealer will charge you $200 up on labour to get this done as they will tell you then need to remove the ENTIRE seat frame which is complete B.S.. It was discussed numerous times already here the procedure on how to do the swap just search it.

If you don’t want to attempt it yourself - I didn’t - go to auto upholstery shop - cheaper than dealer - they can order the Mbtex material and replace for about $200 total.....

Look around ebay.
08-14 shares the same seat bottom cover and driver side and passenger side shares the same part number as well.
I replace my 08 driver side seat bottom cover with 14 passenger side seat bottom cover for $150. Looks brand new.

Ebay USA has tons of cheap covers and I wish they would sell to Canada though. That seat cover up here is about $650 CAD.

I have cracks also. MBtex is garbage and I wish my car came with real leather.

I only pad $290 CAD in the dealership. You are getting raped by your dealer.

I made an error.

$550 was the price but still pricey.

How long ago? I am curious if you called and asked for the price today at your dealer, what would they tell you?

Cheapest I could find up here is $427 from exoparts + GST and shipping. I can live with $290 CAD no problem. I have heated seats so maybe that has something to do with it. I doubt it, but maybe.

Which dealer charged you $290 in Canada?
