Timing chain tensioner issues

My 2012 250 1.8 is doing the long crank ratchet noise after start thing. I was reading a thread a few weeks ago and some one asked the OP if the oil filter tube came apart and was stuck in the housing. There was no follow up to this question. Prior to this happening my oil filter tube had come apart and stuck in the housing. I had to pull it out. Now it stays on (just removed it to check today) when I took it out today the oil immediately ran out of the filter housing. Is there an oil check valve somewhere that is failing to maintain pressure on the timing chain tensioner? I ask because after starting and the noise ceasing, I can stop the engine and restart it in quick succession with no issues. Leads me to believe that it is an oil pressure issue. Changed oil not long after the problem began. Always use Mahle filter with Mobil 1 Euro blend 0-40. Have only driven the car twice since this began. So twice in two months; it’s just sitting.

And help Ella would be appreciated.

Timing chain update

I replaced the chain tensioner that I mentioned in the earlier post. The problem persisted. Now I have the valve cover off, chain tensioner out, but the chain doesn’t appear to have any slack in it. Does this mean that the timing chain is not stretched?

I don’t want to cut out and replace a perfectly good timing chain if I don’t have too.

It still does the deiseling thing upon start up, and sometimes gives the check engine light with a cam position sensor code.

Looking for for any advice here.

I'm not sure if the chain is stretched but I hope you can figure it out. Mine was doing the noise every once in a while then Saturday the timing chain jumped causing valve and piston damage. I'm looking at a new engine at this point.

Did you ever get this resolved?

Richard
