DIY Dealer Scann Tool
So i've had my w204 long enough and do all the work myself, only time I have to pay someone is when I need a dealer scan tool.

I was looking into this chinese knock off, mechanics say to stay away from them but for a diy you dont need a 10k mercedes scanner.. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with the kchinese knock of c4 xentry scanners and which one would be the best option to start with.
You can do a lot with the scanner as this man shows, you can change the throttle settings and actually unlock some free hp.

Any of those tools work well. The problem is with the gent or miss that connects the tool to the car---you better know your car before you expose you limitations---because will start to see your whining posts about my star system not working or golly gee what does this mean!!---my suggestion is save your money and go back to school to become a thoracic surgeon.

I have zero issues with my 2 year old chinese knock off. You should start with a preassembled/preconfigured package that works right out the box unless you are very technically inclined. I'm talking almost engineer level.

Well the info is hard to find because the people that work with these system all seem to have a stick up there *** and don't want to share the info, maybe its because they spent so much money on a scanner they feel like they have the authority to do so.I learn everything myself and about to graduate mechanical engineering so software isn't really my thing yet*, im slowly learning and if you dont want to give me useful advise just dont comment honestly, no one is forcing you to do so.

Good to know, I think im going to pull the plug on that ebay one, it comes with the xentry data on it and it will be much easier then running vm's or downloading software like you mentioned.

I was wondering if you have any news ? I did some research and I wanted to ask if your laptop will have the latest xentry software and if its Xp or windows 7(I would prefer XP). Now I see vendors asking for extra fees to be able to SNC code ? Doesn't the tool enable you to code new things to the vin, at least offline, some things have to be coded online with mercedes I am aware but I dont understand why would a seller charge more to have SNC coding ability ?

Sure thing white46, let me work a few things out and I will let you know.
OP, I can have a hard drive with all the software loaded, and you would simply swap the hard drives (not difficult, 2 minutes) and it would be set up. That is of course, if you have another laptop laying around.

Currently out and I will have to get back to you later to confirm what I say.
The version will be 2017.12 unless there is a newer one, then I will let you know. I'm pretty sure it will be windows XP as well. You are right, some do require online, and the wifi adapter will be included. I'll have to check the SNC coding but you should be able to.
Like I said ill have to confirm these things so take it with a grain of salt for now.

I have the icarsoft i980 and the MB II seems to do the same things, you can only data stream, watch values and reset codes in most of the modules, you can't turn things on and off or adjust values with it, just diagnose and watch what's happening.
