2011 C300 Brake Rotor replacement options
Looking to do a brake job but would like to get rid of my solid rotors and go to a Slotted and or drilled kit. I would like to have directional rotors all the way around and not just passengers side as I hate when one side is directional and the other is opposite... I see this on a lot of kits offered. Anybody have any recommendations or have a supplier they can suggest? Pads not as important and I am NOT looking for a very expensive AMG kit for a mid-level car like this one.
Thanks in advance gentleman!

I cheaped out on my rear rotors with some 30$/ea Acdelco off rock auto and 40 000km later Im very happy, they also come painted which prevents rust. Now for the front I didnt cheap out and went with Zimmerman and they are holding up quite well although they seem to be more agressive on the pads since the OEM pads didn't wear as fast but that could also be the Akebono pads being a softer material.

Pardon me, but why the F are people cheapening out on one of the most important parts of your car?!
SERIOUSLY? People who buy a $50,000+ more car cheapening out on rotors? Someone stop the world, I need to get off.

Calm down.. My 30$ rotors have 40 000km and haven't exploded yet.. I trust Acdelco for making good parts. That's just the rear, the front is what does most of the braking anyways and even though I have miss matched rotors, my car has the performance brakes and stops on a dime, not to mention the rear rotors arent drilled and slotted anymore so the rear pads will last a lot longer.

some of these I can understand what you mean, but OEM frankly sucks in both performance, sound, and dust.

Yeh I would stay away from OEM parts for german cars, its mostly just chinese parts and not up to spec to OE requirements, although I've seen both Febi and Meyle parts made in china too but nowadays not everything from China is bad, just most of it.

But AcDelco, no. No way.
But we're talking about brake ROTORS here, what are you referring to about dust/sound etc? Maybe I'm missing something?

Only 1 left, I would hurry up guys! Lmao, that must be the cheapest rotor I've ever seen, Acdelco are pretty reputable but 13$ for a rotor seems scary. Honestly my 30$ ones are holding up very well and haven't warped yet but I wouldn't put Acdelco in the front, only in the rear.
My zimmermans seem a little warped after 40 000km because the steering wheel sometimes shakes under hard braking at certain speeds, very little but enough for me to have them resurfaced next brake job.

I mean AcDelco makes batteries, I doubt they would make a super trash product, especially since it would be sold in US where there are lots of regulations.
I wouldn't do it, because I'd be looking to increase or at least maintain performance. But as nearly everything on this forum, to each their own :S

Somebody mentioned pads so I threw in the entire summary in the mix lol.

Yes, AC Delco doesn't make terrible parts, and I'm sure they are MILES and MILES ahead of cheap Chinese knockoffs, that said, I do drive my car hard, and I think everyone can agree that OEM parts are better in quality than AC Delco parts. Will 99% of us ever notice, of course not. If you drive the W204 like a sane human being (I do not), then I'm sure AC Delco crap is good enough. That said, I never EVER cheap out on brakes, because I could just find myself doing 150km/hr and needing to stop to 0, when it's -30 or 40'C out where 2 feet could mean life or death. The thought of a rotor cracking on me under such an extreme environment scares me, so I'll stick with OEM.
This is also one reason why I don't use ceramic pads. I had a "my anus touched cloth" event when it was -30'C once and I slammed on the brakes...and nothing happened for a solid 3-4 seconds. Scared the poop out of me. I didn't crap for days.

If I wanted GM parts in my car, I'd have bought a GM vehicle.

But OEM isn't the only available, some aftermarket are actually superior depending on what type of use you want from them, most Mercedes owner drive it slow and soft so they dont want an agressive pad but for someone like you and me, we might want something with a bit more bite so we look in the after market.

Yeh for sure if you intend of driving the car hard you need top stuff. About the ceramics, I can agree with you I've felt that feeling of weaker brakes on a cold and snowy day, although its only for a split second as you tough the pedal not for 3-4seconds that would be very dangerous, you must of had some cheap ceramic pads. Regardless I find ceramic have way more bite to them and can stop much better/quicker, only down side is that split second when its really cold but honeslty its just after a long cruise on the highway and ice builds up on the bad so you'l need to press the pedal a bit harder, I think that would happen with any material not only ceramic tho.

OEM brakes pads are TERRIBLE when it comes to brake dust, but short of that, I haven't had any issues with noise, feel, bite, etc. That said, yes, most Merc owners will drive their cars slow and soft, 100% agree. That said, we (or they) don't really plan out our last minute emergencies, right? Anyways, I try and prepare for the unexpected, and I'll defer my judgement and decision making to the German engineers who made the car. Personally, I'll cheap out on cabin filters, but on tires, brakes and rotors, no way Jose :-P

Yup, to each their own. I had Akebono pads at the time, although I was driving a B7 A4 and not a W204, just wanted to put that out there. And yes, it was a solid 3-4 seconds. I had braked hard enough and quickly enough to trigger the Audi's "oh sh** we're about to die, slam on the brakes" mode. It was that scary. If it wasn't for some last minute panic swerve, I'd probably have been pretty injured.

I dont think the ceramic pads were the problem, I think it was because you were in a Volkswagen jetta haha.
