COMAND NTG 4.5 Missing menu items in Navigation screens

I recently purchased a used 2013 C300 4Matic that has COMAND APS WITH DVD CHANGER installed . I believe this is an NTG 4.5 system (Post MY 2012 Face-lift). I was going to change the map from North orientation to Bird's Eye View but when I went to the Settings menu the only thing available to me was POI Symbols on Map. From the COMAND operating instructions I would have expected to see several other options such as Map Orientation, Topographic Map, Highway Information, City (3D), Map Version....I have been reading through the forums and understand that there are both Firmware updates as well as Map updates and that the updates are only free when under warranty. A quick discussion with the dealership got the expected "only free when under warranty.." response. They claimed that they did nothing to the FW when they brought the car in as a trade in and did not even appear to understand what I was asking. Has anyone had issues with standard menu items not appearing? I looked in ALL the COMAND menus as well as the Engineering Mode and Dealer Mode windows and could not find what I was looking for.

From Engineering Mode:

a) FL Ver : BLD-NR-172 10.07
b) NAVI Ver : 02.22.0B_US
c) CPU Ver : 800000000
d) SWDL Ver : 82.19.00
e) BT FW Ver : e967
f) DSP FW Ver : 20120516F05A
g) FPGA FW Ver : 0.5

I also found P/N:

019a : 1669 029 304-001 12/36/00
019b : 1669 023 805-001 12/36/00

Does this sound like a FW corruption issue? Would refreshing the FW solve this sort of problem? If so are these version numbers consistent with the version that might be available from a reliable repair shop?

On a related topic there appears to have been a subsequent version of NTG designated 4.7 (or possibly Gen 3). I believe that this was needed for iPhone tethering and internet access. Does the NTG 4.5 HW support an upgrade to the Gen 3?

Any help or direction is appreciated

Try using voice commands, I couldn't find the settings either until I stumbled into them by calling up the map options via voice.

Interesting; I'll give it a shot and let you know. A review of the accepted commands from the manual does not suggest that there any commands to change map orientation. I'll try "Help" and see how it responds.

Silver_Arrows - you were right! I tried "Map Help" and it gave me an option for "Heading Up". Thanks for the suggestion; I would have never stumbled my way in to that.

I will still keep looking into a menu fix (just because I HATE when things don't work as they are supposed to!). http://www.gpsbites.com/mercedes-ben...-system-update suggests that a map update with a possible fix with a MBZ service disk would get everything running correctly. The article does have obvious errors as the map updates require interaction with the dealer to get an activation code for the map but it gives me something solid to ask about with the dealer service guys.

Not sure if this will help you but changing the region in engineering mode can hide some menu.
The original region in my car was USA and i change it to ECE in engineering mode so i can use the radio frequency suitable in my country, but doing so i have lot of missing menus(keeping in mind that if i change it back to USA all the menu will appear again) so maybe the same is for maps.
sorry i can't test the map cause it's not working in my country, and excuse my bad English.

gm007 - I thought l saw that the system was set for US when I was browsing through the engineering menus but I'll go back and check. I haven't tried to play a DVD so that might tell me if the system thinks it's in another region. The car was originally sold new in the US and CARFAX would suggest that it never left but I don't know what the previous owner might have done. Thanks for the suggestion and your English is just fine.

I have found the answer to my original question. I did not understand that when you go into the Navigation screen that there is a set of sub-menus that are accessible if you click on "Navi" at the top of the screen; I had been going to the menus at the bottom of the screen and went to Settings where I only found POI functions. All the "Missing" functions were accessible from the sub-menu when I click on "Navi". I got this for free from the service adviser at the MBZ dealership where I bought the car! I'm glad I went by because I would have never known that you got to the sub-menus that way on my own.

Thanks again for you guys that tried to help earlier.
