Buying a c300 from owner - what to look for?
hi, I am going to buy car from owner. This is my first time doing this.
Owner said once he get the money he will give me the signed title and I should register the car myself.

Is that it or I am missing something?

I am planning to drive away with the license plate from my other car

I would do a bill of sale too. But once he signs title and gives if you thats it till you register it.

My state requires a notary. Not sure where you're located. Might be best to meet at a bank or a DMV to do the transaction in case anything is questionable

I live in New Jersey.

He he will pick me up at 9am
We goto the bank and I take the cash out
we goto DMV
we sign title and bill of sale
He goes home with his license plates. I put my old cars plates temporarily at dmv.
I register the car and get new plates
drive away with new plates

makes sense?
