Resealing 4matic transfer case
Took my car to the dealer to have the transmission fluid changed as it was shifting roughly (probably due to low fluid). 6 months ago had my fluid changed by an indy, so I thought maybe he underfilled the transmission (accidentally or intentionally).
The dealer says they found a "transfer case fluid seep" and that ultimately the transfer case will need to be "resealed" for $1000.
Has anyone heard of this happening on the 722.9?

The transfer case out put shaft seal is the most notorious to leak and requires removal of the transfer case to be replaced. When I replaced my transfer case bearing, a mercedes specialist helped me align the seal because it can be tricky since you are working blind. He also told me he does about a dozen of them a year on 4matic models so its pretty common. 40$ seal, rest is all labor removing the transfer case.
