Car stuck in park.

2009 C300
Car stuck in park.
My C300 ran just fine. One day I woke up and start up my car. I realized it stuck in Park, and the engine light came on. Then I opened up the leather part and manually shift it to Drive. But car did not move. Does anyone know what could be the problem ?
