Air conditioning recycle button?

Hi friends i have a 2008 c300 why does the recycle button automaticaly keeps shutting off? Does anybody else know if this is normal? Thanks.

I think it is part of the automatic control sensing the environment conditions. My 2011 manual says that.
My Honda van does that too and I left it to the van to decide.

Yeah but it turns off on its own and it never turns on by itself.

It's not designed to turn ON on its own, you have to manually turn it ON, but once you do, it will stay ON for a certain period of time/based on sensor input before the car shuts it OFF automatically to introduce new air and oxygen into the car.

ok thanks buddy its the first car i have that does this.

Yeah, Mercedes takes good care of you. They don't want you breathing old and poor quality air for too long. With the recycle button ON, you're consuming all the oxygen inside the cabin so after some time, you'll need the fresh air. I believe the sensor reads humidity as well and it's part of the AC's equation.

Id be interested to test this out because I'm pretty sure it doesnt in my car...but I dont know.
