2013 C250 Keep or Trade? need opinions
Hi MBworld,
I hope you're all doing great, I wanted to see if you guys have any opinions. I picked up my 2013 C250 March of 2017 and It has always been a great vehicle except for a misfire gremlin that I have been dealing with and the dealer has almost been clueless in finding the exact cause, The first misfire was cylinder 1 which ended up being a fuel injector. Replaced and that fixed the problem completely. Months later "Cylinder 2 and 4 misfire detected with low fuel reserve" on cold start.. Once warmed up the car runs perfectly fine and never misfires. Cold starts I can sometimes hear and feel the car shaking a bit and sputtering nothing too crazy, The cylinder 2 and 4 misfire only happened intermittently and the dealer has done compression tests, fuel pressure tests and more and they cannot duplicate the problem. The car runs excellent and I just had service B done and the dealer went ahead and replaced the spark plugs (again) at no charge. They say everything is running perfectly fine and to factory spec. Coils have also been tested. The car has been at the dealership more than 6 times in a year for the same issue, I had to switch dealerships at one point since the first one was very unethical and dishonest trying to upsell me on everything. In all honesty I love the car, perfect color Palladium Silver Metallic with Black/stainless steel fully loaded Sport package. I have 2 years left on my extended warranty with fidelity, right now the car is running amazing and it just puts a smile on my face and to this day I still get so many compliments specially about the color. Car has 80,300 Miles on it,
I have also learned just now that I should position the key to position 2 for 15 seconds to prime fuel pump at cold start and It completely helps the shaking and sputtering, I wasn't doing that before.
Given the situation, How would you rate the 2013 C250 M271 Engine long-term reliability if I decide to keep the vehicle? I have been debating on whether to keep the car and enjoy it or trade it in for an Alfa Romeo Giulia TI sport Lease. I am a business owner so leases would work for me. I'm just curious to see what you guys think? I love the C250, I believe its even better than all the new C class models in terms of design, it's a timeless piece.

A 2018 car is always better than a 2013 car, to my opinion. However, I think you should be more concerned about Alfa Romeo's short term reliability than Mercedes' long term reliability.

Lease or not, reliability is a big pain you can start feeling with such a car with so much electronics and functions. Issues are not always easy to find and resolve in a timely manner even by the dealership.
I spent a few minutes in the Giulia's forum and there was a thread about a guy who was happy that he had traveled 1000 miles without an issue. You can also find posts about lemon law and etc.
Apart from all that Alfa Romeo Giulia looks great... if reliability is not a problem, then it is a great choice.

The only time a lease makes sense to me, is if you're a business owner. Have fun with the Alfa.
