C300 brakes and rotors suggestions
Hey,
When I took my car for servicing the MB dealer called me and said that my car needs new brakes and rotors. The estimate for the same was around $1200. At that time I declined to get it done from them.
I really do not want to spend that kind of money. I tried to check the prices of the OEM parts online but I got confused by the number of options.

Can some of you smart people suggest me what my best options could been. Is there a chain workshop which can do a good and cheap job with german cars? Or should I order the parts and take it to a local trusted mechanic?
Car:
Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic Sports .
I am located in buffalo NY and the quote is by Mercedes Benz of Buffalo and is USD 1200
Miles: 58000
Miles when bought: 33000

This post is sort of not helpful. We have no idea where you live, or what country you're from....
$1200 for brakes/rotors isn't bad, at all. (assuming CDN, since that's the only currency I understand )
If you have a trusted mechanic, then great. Personally I buy OEM parts through a wholesaler and install it myself or through a local trusted indy, but that's me.

FYI, these brakes are easy as brakes go. Any competent mechanic can do them. ECS, and FCP sell oem, but IMO that's not necessary. Many good brands that are as good or better than oem and much less expensive.

The easiest route would be to take your car to the trusted mechanic you mentioned and tell him you would like dustless brake pads and let him get the rotors and pads. And you might want to have him double check that you, in fact, need rotors AND pads and that you need rotors and pads in both the front AND rear. Generally the fronts wear out much quicker than the rears as they do most of the work. Any competent shop should be able to help you. This isn't a German car thing or a Mercedes specific thing. Brakes are somethikng any shop should be able to do.

I buy my parts from RM European Auto Parts. They always have a good selection of factory, OEM, and third party parts. That said, I have been using Akebono pads on everything I own. I find them always dust free, quiet, and very grippy, hot or cold.
Regarding replacement, it is as easy at it can be on these cars. If you have not let it go too far, and gouged the rotors, you can easily change the pads without replacing or turning the rotors. Regardless of what you hear, this is OK to do, and you will have good results. If you want new rotors, RM has choices here also. I have had great luck with aftermarket rotors.
I would however, push some fresh fluid thru the system before you remove the old pads. Open the valve, and pump it thru. This will get any crud out, and in turn refresh the overall fluid mix. If it is dirty, keep pumping.
End of story,> $100 brake job.

I see you are located in Buffalo NY there is a lot of online choices:
www.fcpeuro.com
www.pelicanparts.com
www.ecstuning.com/
Pelican has many how to's and yes you can do these brakes yourself. They are the easy to do and if you take your time you can do it on a Sunday. Each vendor either has kits with everything you need, and sonme kits leave a few things out. So be careful and check each kit.
Here is a video from youtube:
Hope this helps.

You're gonna need tools though.
Especially if that safety bolt is stuck. You're gonna need a few min typical tools as well.
