RIP 07 C280 ---- looking for a new C class
I am by no means a car guy, rather a huge fanatic and admirer. My vehicle has come to its end and I am in the market for a new Benz.
I have heard from many people that the 2009 c300 and onward are the best C classes ever made.
I would be very grateful if anyone could chime in and share their insight/experiences with said vehicle/vehicles.
Thank you so much!
Shawn

Long story short, look for a 2012+ model so that you can the facelift (interior and exterior). I personally chose a 2012 C300 4MATIC Sport because it has the M272 engine which is the most reliable in my opinion. The C250 with the M271 engine can suffer from High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) failure and the timing chain can also stretch and cause problems over time. The 2013-2014 C300/C350 have the M276 engine which can suffer from carbon build-up, the HPFP failure, and needs chain tensioners installed to fix low oil pressure/ticking sound on startup.
All these cars have the 7-speed 722.9 transmission which was super reliable by 2012.
From here on out, it's really up to you in terms of what features you want and what power you are looking for. Oh and there's C63s as well
but these are wild!

Im after power, but reliability more so.
Thanks again! I'll look for a 2012 c300

It's just non-DI engine 3.0 V6 (08-early 12) and DI engine (late 12-14) 3.5 V6
Pretty much going for a 2012, the goal is to find a car with the new interior (and minor styling cues) but has the old engine. A simple Google search can show you what the covers look like so you can identify them (cause dealers are dumb most of the time)

Thank you, Thank you, I really appreciate it. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but is the older engine the (M272) that someone referenced earlier in this thread?
Thanks again, dealers do take advantage of you, so i appreciate it.
Thank you triplmmm, i'm glad to hear positive things. Thank you for sharing your experience with me so I can make an informed decision.
Thanks again!

I avoided the M272 engine after reading about tragedies with poorly hardened cam wheels mounted on the balance axles. Photo’s of hardly recognizable teeth after 70.000 km. Not covered by MB and think of an engine out repair. Rudeney knows more.
(So, went for a M112 3.7 powered SL350. Sweet cruisin’)
