2007 C230
Checking out a 08 c300

Since my 07 c230 was hit ive been looking for a new vehicle and came across an 09 C300 sport with 80k in the clock. I loved my C230 and we are located in Hawaii so it’s a little more pricey they are asking 7800 for it. Assuming it was taken Care of what are some things to keep an eye out on these cars when I take a look at it? Or problematic points with these

'11 E350 4Matic Sport
ESL (electronic steering lock), EIS (electronic ignition switch) are the two big culprits and that mileage is prime failure time and it is not a cheap job even at the independents. Some 2008's still had faulty balance shaft gears ($$$$$) so 2009+ is a safer bet. Engine mounts are a weak spot and C300 RWD it's like $1000 at the dealer for the two engine mounts and 1 trans mount.

Check to make sure taillight and airbag recalls have been completed and at 80k it should have had a trans service and spark plugs changed.

Pretty solid cars, I had a few years of driving pleasure in my '09 C300, the ESL and EIS going bad were the only sore spot as they will leave you stranded. It's not a question if it will fail, it's just a question of when.

2007 C230
Just drove it the thing is immaculate. Interior looks brand new, exterior only has some scrapes under the front bumper from bottoming out. The only thing I noticed was the drivers side window wouldn’t go up with the 1 touch or whatever it is. You had to hold he button down the whole time to get it to go up. It’s a lot faster than my 07 230 was by far. An older guy who owned it since 2011And it has been maintained by the local Mercedes dealer and up to date on all maintenance. Think I’m going to pull the trigger

2008 C350 Sport 4Matic Swap
When I got my 2008 C300 the window had same issue and the sun roof didn't open properly. The dealer was oblivious and I used it as negotiating factors to reduce the price. The fix for both was just a simple re-sync procedure.



Get a full mechanical inspection just to be sure there's no surprises hidden under the covers like leaks. If its 4matic, be sure the tires are all matching brands and that the transmission fluid has been changed in the 40k miles intervals that it should be.
