Looking at 11-14 C300

Hey guys just started a new job and hoping to get back into a MB this year. I've been doing some research but figured I'd ask here. Still debating between the 4matic or the RWD but reading the T/C problems scare me.

I have a winter beater already so that helps but anyway my question is how do you know if the trans update has been done or what should I ask when I go to a dealer and buy the car. Looking for simplicity so the less gadgets the better. Also dont want to pick up a car that doesn't have the update for the trans/speed lag done. Also with the staggered wheels could I find another set of front wheels and throw them on the back to be able to rotate my tires.

thanks in advance

I chose a 2012 C300 4MATIC Sport to avoid the direct-injection M276 engine and its problems. It has the older but trusted M272 3.0L engine and the 7G-Plus transmission. If you don't beat the car too much and do the transmission and differential fluids changes on time, 4MATIC should not be a problem.

Regarding the wheels, you can have the same wheels front and back if you go with 225 for all corners. It's an option that's listed in the manual.

If you mean the transmission, you have to look at the updates applied to the Transmission Control Unit (TCU). The MB Topic Number which addresses the hard/jerking shift issue is L127.19-P-05-6610. The title of the topic number is "Update to transmission control unit software".
