09 C300 4Matic Brakes
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice. I need new front & rear brakes & rotors. Before anyone says “just do it yourself” I can’t. With my work schedule I’d never get it done. I just went and got a quote from a local shop for brakes, rotors and sensors for the front and rear. They want $920 to do it. Is that a lot? I do live in an area with a higher cost of living but this mechanic who I have used in the past for a brake line that rusted is someone I trust to work on my car. I just don’t know if that’s a lot.
Any help is appreciated!
Oh & no I won’t take it to my local dealership as they will never touch my vehicle again.

That is for brakes, rotors front and rear? Will he change the brake fluid as well? If he uses decent rorors and pads I don't think that price is ridiculous.
On the other hand, what if, based on some feedback from here you determine that price is too high? Then what? You sadi you won't go to a dealer. You said you trusted the mechanic twhere the price might be high, so where would you take it them? Some place that is unknown just because it is a bit cheaper? What you might want to do is call around a few places and see what the going rate is and if your trusted guy is more expensive, just mention to him that you got a lot of feedback and it seems like his price is a bit high. Then ask him if he might have an idea why there could be that price difference. He may have a compelling explanation, he may not, but knowing that he might offer you a little discount so you keep coming back. Or might charge a bit less for the next service because you brought it up this time.

Good sourced parts and lifetime warranty on parts only, will usually cost you around $400.00. So, $520 of that is labor, depending on labor rate, we will just spit ball $90.00/hr, that's 5.7 hours work time. Just call around and at least ask what others charge per hour and it never hurts to get estimates so you know what is average.
I agree with Alphadude.
