Setting up garage door button
I have a Liftmaster 8550 I believe, and I have a Mercedes C300 2008. I am having a lot of trouble getting past step 3 as per the directions on homelink: https://homelink.com/program/instruc.../0/0/usenglish as well as the same step in the Mercedes manual for my vehicle. This step is when you press the desired button to program and the garage door button on your remote. The directions state that the indicator light will flash slowly and then rapidly by my car's rear view mirror button, but it never flashes rapidly. The light continues to flash steadily, indefinitely.
Any help or advice to get past this step? I've tried pressing my garage door's "Learn" button during this phase as well with no such luck.

There are videos. You have to follow the directions to the “t”.
Are you pressing the garage door control button when you do it?
do you press and hold the button on the garage motor until the light changes? You can’t just press it once. You have to hold it a second.
You’re not alone. I get frustrated every time I have to do it.

Any other thought given that I cannot get past this stage?

So the answer is that I must be somehow doing it incorrectly, but no indication as to what specifically? I don't think that is very helpful. Can anyone suggest what /might/ I be doing wrong, given my initial description in my post?

how about this? performing the handshaking using the garage door opener's instructions...but using the
MB buttons as if they resembled the remote.
I have a Chamberlain opener and a 1999 E320. I ignored MB instructions and used this method:
reach up and activate the opener's learn mode (flashing LED on opener)
reach down into car and press the mirror/opener button (opener LED changes from flashing to steady, then out)
that pretty much did the trick with my E320 as well as about 5 key fob remotes which I have for my cars and motorcycles.
(hope I am understanding what you're trying to do from my keyboard. I will reread the homelink text again)

You need Liftmaster 855LM Homelink Repeater Kit.
Older vehicle like w204 Homelink is not compatible with newer technology used in garage door opener.

Try again. I note that there is no step 3 in the owners manual and I repeat my previous advice with the following addition - I'm talking about the Mercedes Owners Manual. I recently purchased a 2008 Mercedes C300 and had no problem programming my garage door opener in the car as per the advice in my previous post. The manual is available online from Mercedes Benz USA. Best of luck.

Either way, thanks all for all of your help!

It looks like you missed a bit of the conversaion here that happened after your last reply. It was resolved by purchasing a HomeLink repeater that works with older cars, for newer garage doors. My garage door is fairly new, which is why it did not work with my vehicle.
Either way, thanks all for all of your help!
