I can’t seem to find a solution on purchasing a clip that was broken inside my cup holder. Anyone know where to find one without buying the entire console which I’ve been told by the dealer.
Are you sure your clip is broken inside, not just fell?
One of my clips was a bit misaligned and was rubbing the cup holder housing. I touched it and it fell inside. Youtube shows how to remove the center console to expose the cup holder. Mine is never removed so the trim piece is very tight. I am afraid of breaking anything so will not do it now. When time comes I will replace the control knob shaft with a metal one although it is still stock piece now.
I couldn't wait so tried taking trim pieces off. It was not as difficult as I first thought until the step to disconnect the control knob cable. Youtube video shows it very easy but I can't seem to access the connector. Maybe the cable has enough slack so I can lift the whole cup holder assembly just enough to reach the clip underneath. I will try it another time.
Thank you guys for the feedback in my case it wasn’t in there it’s actually broken and some how disappeared. I can’t find anywhere that sells a separate clip and guys parting out their cars want about 50 dollars for one clips ( pretty ridiculous)
I need to replace a missing one on my console, I also ordered the clips.
Does the console need to be removed to replace these clips?
I quickly attempted with just the plastic trim cover removed, but can’t seem to get the spring to sit correctly.
So here we are in 2023, and I've found zero info on the web how to simply replace the clips. One of the most frustration small jobs I've tried in a while. I removed to trim cover to see if I could get at it easier, but still not seeing it. I'm trying to see how the spring is positioned, and am not getting the right tension once I clip into place. Trying to get this in. Old one in place.
