Engine code P0008A?
So I was driving my car and hit the gas as I was trying to pick up speed , and the car shifted funny and the check engine light came on and I lost power, RPMs wouldn't go too high... problem has happened a few times and the check engine light turns off after a few cycles of driving, and back to normal. I got the code pulled at a local autozone and they came up with the error code P0008A- low pressure fuel system pressure too low. What's going on here

That's what I was worried about, as I've heard the HPFP fails often on these cars. It seems
like a complicated fix for myself, and costly at any mechanic. Is there anything serious that can arise from this issue? If I don't punch it, then it never acts funny, but it can steadily pick up speed merging on the highway and when I need to go. Sometimes I can accelerate quick and it'll be fine, other times
not so much. Thanks for the info.

A P0008 refers to the low-pressure side of the system. Assuming the pressure sensor is reading correctly, get the freeze frame data and tell us what the fuel pressure reading was. I think 5 bar is about right.
Your problem may not be with the high pressure fuel pump.

Update: So I popped the hood just to look and noticed there was a hose that was kinda ripping. It was the little hose on the air intake hose I believe? I never got the codes read by a more accurate reader, nor did I get the freeze frame data.I decided to buy the hose for $20 on ebay and replaced it myself. The old hose basically crumbled when I touched it (POS quality). The car feels much better and doesnt sputter when I hit the gas now. No problems since!!

Why would a damaged hose give a fuel pump error code?
The reason i ask is that i have the same code P008A00, do i search for a pump issue or a hose issue or both?
