Engine code P0008A?

So I was driving my car and hit the gas as I was trying to pick up speed , and the car shifted funny and the check engine light came on and I lost power, RPMs wouldn't go too high... problem has happened a few times and the check engine light turns off after a few cycles of driving, and back to normal. I got the code pulled at a local autozone and they came up with the error code P0008A- low pressure fuel system pressure too low. What's going on here

These cars are known to suffer from a failure in the high-pressure fuel pump. Do some research on it and you will find a lot of threads on it. This is likely what is happening with your car.

That's what I was worried about, as I've heard the HPFP fails often on these cars. It seems
like a complicated fix for myself, and costly at any mechanic. Is there anything serious that can arise from this issue? If I don't punch it, then it never acts funny, but it can steadily pick up speed merging on the highway and when I need to go. Sometimes I can accelerate quick and it'll be fine, other times
not so much. Thanks for the info.

A P0008 refers to the low-pressure side of the system. Assuming the pressure sensor is reading correctly, get the freeze frame data and tell us what the fuel pressure reading was. I think 5 bar is about right.

Your problem may not be with the high pressure fuel pump.

Would I have to basically get the code read by a Star system at an MB dealer, so it gives me more details? Thanks for the info, I'll work on getting that

Most decent aftermarket scanners should be able to provide you with the freeze frame data.

Update: So I popped the hood just to look and noticed there was a hose that was kinda ripping. It was the little hose on the air intake hose I believe? I never got the codes read by a more accurate reader, nor did I get the freeze frame data.I decided to buy the hose for $20 on ebay and replaced it myself. The old hose basically crumbled when I touched it (POS quality). The car feels much better and doesnt sputter when I hit the gas now. No problems since!!

Why would a damaged hose give a fuel pump error code?

The reason i ask is that i have the same code P008A00, do i search for a pump issue or a hose issue or both?

I have the same exact issue as well, I popped the hood and my fresh air intake was ripped. Order the part for $30. I hope that will fix my problem 👍🏼
