2012 C350 Engine Problems
Hi Everyone,
I’m at a loss. Took my car into the shop two weeks ago and they still don’t know what the issue is. This is supposed to be a reputable shop that specializes in Mercedes. I’m starting to think they might know the late models but nothing about newer models.
Anyways, there is a loud whining sound coming from the engine. They thought maybe it was a pulley that was worn but that didn’t solve it, then they thought it was a seal, but that didn’t solve it either.
Has anyone had this problem, any idea on what the issue might be?

I would hope they would have pulled codes but I’m not sure what they are doing. The communication has been poor. The sound was a high pitched whining sound both when the car was stationary and moving.

Does the noise stop eventually or stay on all the time?
I'd call them and ask for what the codes are we can help you out more if the community has them, if they can't figure it out I'd go somewhere else.

I always laugh when someone says..... I took it to a Mercedes specialist..... and he can't figure it out! What?! I have been working on Benzo's since 2006 and have had my own shop since 2013. I have never called a customer and said "I can't figure out what is wrong with your car". But in any case.... Is this like a whistling noise? ...... Do this... with the engine running, twist and lift the oil filler cap carefully. Do not take it off all the way because oil will go everywhere. If the noise goes away, let us know.

i could believe this to be the issue if i hear the noise i can tell you 100% if it is or isn't. I've changed mine 2 times and have a lot of threads on how to actually fix the issue.
