I have a 2012 c250 and I keep getting a p0457 code “loose gas cap” I’ve replaced the gas cap with a oem one from the dealer and cleared the code in a few days it comes back what else could it be ? Has anyone had this issue ?

I know that this is an old thread, but it comes up when searching Google for "Mercedes P0457".
I kept getting 'Gas Cap Loose' messages. I was 97% sure that the gas cap and seal were fine, so I added another o-ring under the original. No go. Bought a new gas cap (opened carefully and kept the receipt) . Also no better. Got to snooping under the hood, and it turned out to be a broken hose to the Vapor Canister Purge Valve. Used a heavier piece of tubing that wasn't pre-made as an elbow. Took 5 minutes, after weeks of frustration. The part in question is at the front of the engine on the driver's side (US), right beside the windshield washer reservoir. Says 'MOT' on top of it. Engine light cleared before I even drove the car. Hope this helps someone, now, or 5 years from now.
