Battery replacement
Do I need to back up the computer with 12volts to change the battery and if so, I need information on which battery saver cable that can hook into the computer to purchase.

You should be fine, you may just lose radio presets and have to re-sync your windows.

In my case they just disconnect battery, replace it, reconnect, alarm went off, reset all ok.

My 2009 C300 4Matic....replaced the battery the "old" way w/o battery tender in place. Lost nothing.

I’ve done the same thing and nothing bad has happened. You’ll be fine with swapping your battery

There could be a back up battery in the trunk. Needless to say I’ve had to reset my VIM adapter a few times when it glitches by disconnecting the negative terminal. Never lost anything.
