Unhappy cracked windshield. BEWARE.

The other week I lifted my windshield wiper to wash underneath it and the blade flipped over and fell off, allowing the arm to abruptly hit the windshield resulting in 2 hairline cracks. Be careful. It was kind a fluke accident. But, I had to replace the windshield. The button that retains the pin on the blade must have popped out while I handled the blade. Sure seemed like it ahouldn't have happened. Have fun. Gotta love them C300's.

Ouch...I feel your pain. A crack seemed to appear from out of no where the other day on my windshield. Luckily, it was ~3 inches and was able to be sealed. How much is a whole new windshield replacement though?

Well, sorry to hear your bad luck, but the manual does warn about this. I don't think there's any button holding on the wiper blades - if you fold them back they just slip off. Dead easy to change blades, but you do have to hang on to the arm, or lower it slowly.

the OEM windwhield (and other windows) is made by Pilkington, which produces architectural quality glass. Getting an OEM replacement windshield would be very expensive but you will be getting a quality distortion-free windshield and the white Daimler signature label.

Aftermarket windshield replacement will be much cheaper, which is good if you live in an area where rock chips and cracks are prevailant, and you could get the tinted gradient band at the top of the windshield.

One week after taking delivery (in May) I was stopped at a traffic light, when the light turned green and the cars started moving, a rock hit my windshield and caused a chip in my windshield.

The wierd thing is that neither myself or the car in front of me were going at a fast speed (40 KM/hr or so) Anyway, I got the windshield fixed but it is still visible but it hasnt spread any bigger. 2 weeks later I had another small rock hit the windshield, this time it didnt cause a crack but it made a minor chip.

At the time of the occurences I couldnt stop thinking about the quality of these windshields. I have never had a windshield chip in 20 years of driving. So I hope it is just a coincidence.

Use touch-up paint and then get clear-bra. You'll be amazed at how well it hides imperfections.

I did the same, I believe MB is addressed on this issue and I see 2018 models come with normal style.

Does MB helps the customer in any way?

You did the same what? Drop the wiper arm onto the windshield and crack it? If so, why would you think MB would pay for that?

It happened to me, I was too lazy to walk around the car to lift wiper, as I lifted the further wiper, it slipped out of the arm and crash on the window and cracked, it cracked right trhough. I explained to insurance my fault and thay paid for new winscreeen. It was a surprise to me how thin the rplacement screen was(geniune approved). I now clearly warn the jocky cleaning windshields at garages, so far they did not do what I did.

My Mazda pickup the wiper just fell off the arm as I lifted it, crashed on the windscreen, but in this case nothing happened. This vehicle still has its original windscreen after 300 000Km.

I have a cracked windshield from a rock that hit my windshield 1mm from the top. I can actually see the point of impact. If it was 1 mm higher it wouldn’t have made contact with the glass.

I heard the hit but nothing happened. the crack got bigger to 2” shortly after that’s when I saw it. Over the course of the day the crack ended up 10” like a backwards ) in the top corner.

cost is $1200 including celebration from MB and Apple Autoglass is also high - if there is a lane tracking package it needs the $200 caliberation.

My deductible is $1000. will get it replaced after I lower my deductible when I renew my insurance.

Also if you want the Damial signed Signature sticker on the bottom left +$50
