Belt tore/replacement

Try those suggestions of mine first. Wierd, as you say, that there was no squeal for first week. Did you try reversing the belt when you put it back just for the fun of it?

no I didn't. Could be worth a shot...I didn't know pullies had directions so this could be another one lol

I should of just responded to this one instead of making a new thread but when I accelerate the belt now makes noise and it seems like it is being rubbed against something and slowly degrading one side of it but idk what is causing it. I checked everything and I installed the belt exactly like the examples online had it. On idle it doesn't make any noise only when accelerating.
Another source of noises is metal aftermarket tensioner pulleys, but I don't see you mentioning that.

Couple things come to mind. Since you replaced pulleys, the composite one had a shim behind it. Do you remember installing that? Or for that matter they sometimes get stuck on the block and since the pulley comes with one, you may inadvertently now have 2. Either of these scenarios will misalign that pulley relative to the rest of the belt system just enough to cause fraying and/or noise.

A shim on the inside and a dust cover on the outside. Do you remember fishing the old one off the block? Mine was stuck to the block and it wasn't until I compared them that I noticed.

Here's a video. The metal plate behind the pully fell off and I can't find it. Do I really need it?
I think some of the noise is from when the belt tore maybe some of it fell behind the water pump and making that sound but that's not all of the noise.

I think I found the issue. Will upload video later but I think it was the debris from the previous belt that had torn, falling behind a water pump and when it would turn it make that noise. But I hear a very very light noise when I do accelerate and I don't know where it's coming from (different from the debris behind the water pump)

Belt tore
So while I was driving I felt something like if it had it the inside of my car (very subtle). 10 minutes later my steering went to crap and I knew exactly what it was.
My belt was completely shredded.
And here's a video of the parts, everything spins without any noise including the water pump now (I vacuumed all the debris from the old belt a few hours earlier). What could have caused this?

Yes you do need it. It was designed that way. Putting one too less would but just as bad as one too much.

As long as you know that it did fall off. My fear is that it’s stuck on the block (tough to see since it’s the same color) and you put another one on since the shim is attached to the new pulley.

Do you have any idea why the belt out of nowhere shredded?
