W204 transmission issues

I am a new owner of c280 2009 with 157000km on the odometer. . I feel a delay of around 1 second when engaging from P to R mostly when I start it in the morning and I also feel the downshift of gears when decelarating.. The transmission oil was changed at 155000km along with the filter..however the transmission shifts smoothly while driving.. I have never owned a Benz before so I am a bit concerned.. Has anybody else has similar issues..i would greatly appreciate if someone could enlighten me on this issue.. Thankyou

Welcome and congrats on the new purchase. The 7-speed transmission on this car has a 60,000 km interval for changing the fluid and filter. If the fluid was not changed at all until 155,000 km, let's hope this did not lead to any transmission damage.

What I could suggest for you to do now is to take the car to a shop with the Mercedes Benz STAR/Xentry tool and to have it scanned to see if there are any transmission fault codes. Report back on that. Also ask the shop to "RESET ADAPTATIONS" for the transmission control unit. This will reset a lot of settings in the transmission including the shift points.

Do all this and report back so we can further diagnose and help.

Sounds like motor mounts and transmission mounts. Get them checked at an indie shop.

The delayed power pickup going into R or D is usually associated with a low fluid level.

IMO, I thought this pause was termed the MB Lag. If you never owned or driven a Benz before, then this would be different.

for example, a Toyo Avalon, when backing out of a parking spot in R, you stop and immediately put it in Drive, the car engages quickly.

with a Benz, same situation, there is a subtle lag( 1 second) from R to D shift.

this is my experience and have read about it too. I believe there is a trans software update that solves it back in 2017
