The only thing I can think of is its getting past the seal on the lower outside part of the window. You my want to check if there is water in the rear door. Is this happening after a heavy rain or carwash? search this issue there are some treads on it.

Probably sunroof drains, check with your insurance policy and see if you can open a claim under water damage... may save you $$$$.

I agree with Morgan, I filed w/my ins Geico The Salamander, and they paid to have the sunroof drains redone and new interior carpeting.

I have Geico as well and have this issue. What did you say exactly to claims dept? "Hey my sunroof leaks on my floor fix it"?

I could have posted this thread and have the Pano roof. Just noticed the water this afternoon so haven't checked anything yet. Would the drainage system be the same? Where do the drains come out and can I just put an air hose to them to blow out the clog?
Oh, and no insurance by why would you submit a claim for something so relatively cheap to fix as clogged sunroof drains? Your rates will probably go up.

When I went on-line with my carrier, USAA, there were 2 types of claims- Water or Accident. I sold MBs for 40 years and had seen all types of problems from mouse eaten wiring harnesses (also covered) to a V12 slicing itself in half due to water ingestion at hi speed. In any case, I checked the “water” button and my insurance paid about $4500.00. All the carpet and padding was replaced.
As for the where and how, I can only speculate. I was told that the sunroof drains were plugged up. Since the car’s parked inside 98% of the time and I didn’t supervise the repair at the dealer, I’m still scratching my head. I’m sure the drains are located at the 4 corners of the sunroof pan and are probably connected to plastic tubing running down the A & C pillars. I know that in the past they drained into the rocker panels and then out and those drains could be blocked. I do have have some water staining on the driver side A pillar cloth. Also, my wife keeps the SR tilted and may have run through the car wash with it open.
Most recently I had the rear subframe rust out. There are a number of welded-on flanges for the rear suspension attachment points and one for the lower control arm let go completely! So far MB has refused any help.
Maybe I should have again claimed water damage but instead paid to hav it replaced- $3800.00!

Check the sunroof drains, as well as both drains in the back of the engine compartment, under the hood hinges. Both of my drain plugs were still in, and this area was collecting water. When I popped out the drain plugs, I saw the water draining from the drain holes under the doors.

No more MB:(
Sunroof drains likely culprit. Take it to the dealer.

Can't imagine any warranty would cover it.
