Water in both rear passenger footwells

Hi all

I have just discovered that both rear passenger footwell on my c250 fill up with water every time it rains.

I have dried the carpet and just checked after the rain and the water is back. Carpet is dry on the top but water is getting in under to the sponge.

No gromits missing, sunroof seals all good, door seals all good....

Any Ideas how water is getting in???

Could be the vapour barrier letting water in, this is a plastic sheet behind the door card that has a sealant all round the edge.
Sometimes that sealant can get a small hole in it or the plastic shaaet has become detached.

It's possible it's leaking on one side but is being absorb in the under felt.

I once had a BMW where the rear footwell was soaked and the leak was found in the vapour barrier sealant of the front door.

Do you have a saloon, estate or shooting brake?

I have a saloon. Will get in to door today and see if I can find any holes

It only needs a pin sized hole to allow the water in.

It's best to take the door cards off then you stay in the car and get someone to to spray the car with a hose and hopefully you will see where the leak is.

Make sure your roof drains are open and draining. When they get plugged it is easy for water to drip from the door seam. Had this happen on a C250 a few years ago. Until I saw a drip with my own eyes I would have never believed water was coming from the door frame where it was.

Just get in the back seat and have someone spray water all over the car, start down low and move up untill you see water coming in. The barriers in the door and sunroof would be my guess, go slow with the water around the car. Have the carpet pulled back as you do it.

Update on water....pulled seats out, checked doors and nothing. Bite the bullet and handed it over to dealer....3 days later, they ruled out any external leaks. They then proceeded to remove the whole interior of the car including the dash and finally found the issue. The condensation hose from the aircon had dislodged and the water was coming in from there. Dealer was awesome and is doing all the work for free as it is just outside of warranty. Hose cost $75. Only issue it takes 10 days to come from Singapore to Australia.....

Thanks for all the responses

At least you now know where the water was coming from and it's nice the dealer is doing it as good will.
