My 2008 C300's AC unit randomly turns on by itself every 5-10 minutes or so. Any idea as to why this could be happening, and how it can be fixed?

I don't know that you are actually having a problem. Do you have it in Auto mode? Or maybe Defrost? If so, the A/C could go on if moisture would need to be taken out of the air. That would be normal. Now if you would not have the climate control on at all and the A/C would then randomly come on, that would be a different story. What are teh circumstances when it comes on?

Thanks for the reply. Climate control (as far as I am aware) is completely off. As in, no lights are on in that entire panel. I'm not aware of any particular circumstances, other than the vehicle is being driven. Let me know what specifics you are thinking about.

Does this happen every time you drive the car or just occasionally? So, you do not have the fans running to circulate air or the heat going while driving the car? The panel is always off and the A/C comes on? Then I have no clue. Sorry.

Correct, I generally leave them off, and this only happens while the climate control is off. It consistently happens when I drive the car every 5-10 minutes or so. Hopefully someone else on here has any other idea. This is very strange.

Hey brother, I have the same model car, and it just started happening to my car this morning as I drove to work, Auto mode is pressed off and the A/C control module is checked red on off, and every 3-5 minutes was coming on and I kept having to turn it off, I thought it was the Auto mode at first got pressed by accident as I never use Auto mode and it was turning on and off, but doesn't seem to be the case. Did you solve your problem by chance? Crazy how it's the same problem too...
