I got in my car today at lunch time. Turned on the radio and started driving... every few minutes, the sound would drop out, the screen go blank and the system reboot. it did this several times in the short 10 minute drive. Left it parked for 30 mins. When I got back in it did it again several times on my ride back to work. Kinda makes using the back up camera a pain. Is there any way to do a hard reset? Disconnect the battery?
I'm afraid that if i stop by the dealership they will tell me I need a new command unit and want to charge me $$$.

I got on the forum just now to research the exact same problem. Since my battery is 5 years old I went ahead and replaced it (even though it tested fine, as did the alternator).
The battery change made no difference, the command unit still intermittently shuts down then restarts.

That was only page 1 of 2. I will dig further as I didn't have much time to play. It sounds like a network error rather than a faulty Head unit, but I am not sure.
I just started having same issue on my c250... How do you get into engineering mode or do a complete command reset? Do I simply pull the fuses and wait 15 mins?

Not sure if it is a network error since I’m having the same resetting problem as you and I don’t seem to have any Network errors

Car has 56k miles
Engineering mode
push Hangup # 1 at the same time with unit on for 5 seconds or so.
My 2012 C63 started doing it yesterday around noon.Same thing Freezes, shut down and reboots itself every 5 minutes or so and works fine for another 5 minutes and does it again. Called my local dealer. my service tech said he had 60 voicemails about it by 10:30 CST this morning. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly.

Please let the rest of us know as soon as you hear. This does appear to be a design flaw affecting multiple cars
UPDATE!!!!
Called a dealer this morning in Massachusetts because a member posted about them. Mercedes of Westwood. They just called me back and said that the problem is Sirius XM related. I was told that they submitted an updated yesterday and it did not download correctly causing the system to act incorrectly.

Possible Solution. . .
Possible solution. . .
I called my dealer and got voicemail. Two hours later no call back yet .
I had the rather clever idea to send a refresh signal to my car, which I did.
I sat in the car for 10 minutes listening to Sirius and it did not reset. Prior to that it was resetting every 3-4 minutes. The only difference is that the car was not running...
I stopped by the dealership to ask about it and they told me about the sirius XM issue and that the problem would go away once they fix the update. Strangely enough, it stopped happening on the way to the dealership. I did eventually look in the engineering menu again and found out that the errors I had were from about 45K miles ago. All is good.
