CLC200 CDI 2010 W203 no 5th gear 1,2,3,4,D
Hi, I bought my first Merc a few months ago & loving it. I've slowly but surely been getting the usual jobs done, replacing pads, disks, suspension arms, etc but i have an auto box issue i would like some assistance with.
There is no 5th gear. if you use the paddles it switches from 4 to D. If it wasn't revving over 3k at 80mph you'd think it's a 4 speed auto.
I see other threads mentioning a switch that sticks on other models resulting in no shift into 5th but would that also cause it to go 1,2,3,4,D as opposed to showing 5?
Thanks for any assistance
Cheers

If your car has a conductor plate in the Transmission its that or a bad solenoid .
I recommend if it is under warranty to take it in .
If not get a conductor plate off ebay or other place you like and have it installed , labor is like 200 and would be a good time for a fluid and filter change .
The conductor plates on Mercedes are known to go out and cause issues like this and is considered normal and inexpensive to fix.
OR the letter D is overdrive and thats just the ratio of your vehicle .

Thank you Gentlemen. I appreciate your assistance.
the vin is WDB2037072E083947
Has to be a 5 speed.
it wasn't until i started looking into this that i realised CLC's, even though produced from 08 to 10 are a w203 & not a w204. all c class models changed to the 204 in 08 except the CLC where they slapped a new coup body on the old car. i thought it looked a bit dated inside lol.
