Tinting C250 Coupe panoramic sunroof
Hi all -
Ive scoured the net but couldnt find my answer.
I have a 2013 C250 Coupe with panoric sunroof. Being in AZ, the heat rays are intense and the mesh covering the sunroof is simpyl not enough. I got some decent quality tinting film (5%) and was going to install it on the weekend but have seen mixed info online about glass shattering from the heat being trapped above the film if installed. Also, laminated glass vs tempered glass. All very confusing as some people seem to have successfully added tint with no problems. I really dont want the glass broken but the heat is so intense here its difficult driving comfortably in the day. Can someone please shed some light ? Any experience of tinting your panoramic sunroofs muc appreciated.
Thanks!

I have never needed to tint a sunroof as it just doesn’t get that hot here but if you don’t want to take any risk, can you have an upholstery shop reinforce the vinyl with something thin and reflective?
If I did need to do this, I would be calling Mercedes to find out the exact type of glass used then call a few tint shops around the hottest areas (ie:Texas) and see what they recommend as there’s thousands of people rolling around in extreme heat with tinted sunroofs/panoroofs and zero issues.
