Wow nice fellas! I had the CLS550/E550 marked off my list. Looks like I can start looking for one again.

Will confirm warranty before buying.

2013 Mercedes Benz C350
It's nice to finally hear Mercedes is taking care of this known issue. My service advisor called me the other day to let me know they'll be refunding me for this. I had my subframe on my 2013 C350 replaced last year and it cost probably half of what the car is worth at this point. Subframes shouldn't be rotting after 8 years. They shouldn't be rotting for decades in all honesty. Good on them for acknowledging the issue and taking care of their customers.

Reassuring news.

I just bought a 2013 C300 4Matic that came from PA. right after purchase, I took it in to the shop for a checkup and they reported there was a lot of rust on the underside. I couldn't sleep all weekend, thinking it would need a new subframe and brake lines. To my surprise, the subframe and brake lines look great! There's some rust on other parts (tranny pan, shocks, sway bar, some bolts) but otherwise looks in very good shape.

After a second check, the shop told me they have seen much worse, but they are used to seeing CA cars that have zero rust. Makes me wonder if those components were replaced previously.

Does anybody know how much brake lines would cost? I imagine a couple hundred since it's not that labor intensive and the part is assumingly cheap.

Received the warranty extension notice in the mail today. I'm glad Mercedes is covering this but I've been a life long Mercedes owner because the cars didn't need these... now it seems I'm getting them left and right. If my next car is a Mercedes it'll be a lease.

Apparently Sheiklic got tired once they got to post #23 , so they decided to reply to someone who posted here twice 8 months ago and never came back to the site.

I had the subframe replaced at the beginning of this year, but never got the letter from Mercedes. After seeing the extension of the warranty on this website this weekend ( I hadn't looked in a while but had some free time this weekend), I called the dealer where I had the subframe replaced. They are doing all the paperwork, will send it into Mercedes & after Mercedes sends them the money, I'll be getting a check for the money I spent on the repair. Thanks to those who posted the warranty information on this & other threads.

2011 C Class rotted rear subframe repair

I have a 2011 C Class that had a rotted rear subframe. So rotted, my local repair shop said don't drive it over 30 MPH until you get it fixed. They had two cars in their lot that were awaiting parts for the frame replacement and mentioned they had a spare frame on order that they could use for mine if I chose. They had ordered them almost two months prior from Mercedes. I said I would get back to them as I was going to go to the dealership directly because I needed my car for work. I stopped by Mercedes Benz of North Haven and they said parts were on backorder and there were only 35 frames in stock in Germany at the time. They had no idea about the delivery timeframe. I received a quote just for the parts and checked with their service department on the repair cost. They said the repair including parts would be in the $4000 - $5000 range and they reiterated they had no idea about the timeline for parts delivery. They also mention they had a backlog of replacements to be performed. I notified my local repair shop to put me on the list for their spare frame. I kept checking back at the dealership and my local shop called and said they had the frame. I had them perform the repair and was back on the road in two days. I just called Mercedes customer service to see if I could get reimbursed for the repair. The work was performed with Genuine MB parts and the cost out the door was $3200. This is $800 - $1800 less than the dealership quoted me. They said it wasn't covered because it wasn't performed at an authorized MB repair shop. I escalated the call and am waiting to hear back. If I don't get a favorable response I am going to call one of the class action law firms or file a claim in small claims court. If you have a similar situation please post. I will let you know how I make out.

Who/where did you call at Mercedes customer service? The letter they sent out says to present your documentation (receipts, proof of payment, etc) to your "servicing or closest Mercedes-Benz dealership". @Albany,n.y. 's post right before yours made it sound like his dealership was expecting such claims and made it pretty painless. If you haven't already done so, @pjl , maybe try talking to your local dealership rather than MB customer service?

How long ago was this? If this was after 2/10/23 the dealer should have told you it was covered under the new 20 year warranty & not have quoted you a repair cost.

I called the Mercedes Benz customer support number at 800-367-6372 and spoke to Mercedes. Yes her name was Mercedes. I clarified twice that the repair was NOT performed by an authorized dealer/repair center because she kept replying with "Bring it back to the dealer and if you're a good customer they will refund you". Hence me escalating to the next level of support. I am going to call the dealer after this post.

I got my check today for the full amount, alignment & sales tax included. Total down to the last cent $3,805.08. The check arrived exactly 3 weeks after I contacted the dealer. They sent my paperwork to Mercedes USA and once Mercedes approved the refund & sent them the money the dealer sent me my refund.

Once again, thanks everyone who posted about the warranty change since even though I bought the car new & never changed addresses, I never received the letter from Mercedes.

I looked at my bill. Mine was $1781 plus tax. Parts were $647, labor $1,134. It would have been more if they hadn't done the subframe at the same time.

MB has extended the warranty to all provinces in Canada a while back EXCEPT for in British Columbia from my latest info
Can you give me information on the warranty for this and how to claim it? Mercedes Canada denied to cover my request even after submitting the American warranty letter. I had to pay out of pocket for my expense approx 2.5k cad to replace the subframe.

any Canadian members here who 's done the repair since the extended warranty came out last week.
Despite what is said here, the Canadian extension came after the US. As its not a full recall,
I've been told the estimated inspection fee would be $250! to see whether its rusted thru.
can the inspection be done by oneself without a hoist?
Thanks

I'm in Quebec and no longer have my C350 but I received a recall letter from Mercedes stating they will warranty the subframes on all affected models with a 20 Year unlimited mileage warranty. Looks like they lost the law suit so check with your dealers people.

I also received the warranty extension notice from Mercedes Canada last week. This is good news. I’m hoping they will do an inspection during the $$ A8 service this week..

Make sure you specifically ask them to inspect it. Occasionally they “get stupid” when it comes to these extended warranty coverages.

Nice to see the extended warranty. I came across the rotted subframe issue last year after noticing the rear springs and spring control arms looked rusted and was searching for info on how to replace them, saw in the forums people with severely rusted falling apart subframes. I had a heart attack so I went under there and looked around, I see surface rust at areas but nothing stands out bad. This is the first time I see Mercedes is covering the subframe with the extended warranty. I just printed it out.

I have a 2010 C300 4matic Sport. In the warranty letter is says "Always check VMI to determine is a vehicle is covered under this 20 years / unlimited miles extended warranty.". Are there only specific VIN #s that would have this issue and be covered? The letter mentions to check the VIN in Netstar/VMI and that applicable vehicles will be visible in Netstar, what is that? When I purchased the car used a few years ago I did fill out the registration card that came in the glove box paperwork and mailed it to Mercedes, but i never received this warranty letter, or any letter for that matter.

How are people determining if there subframe should be replaced, meaning DIY inspection to then see if it should be brought to the dealer? I see it says there needs to be corrosion with perforation, to what extent, can it be just the start of rusting through or does the thing have to be completely separated with control arms dragging on the ground?

I was told it might cost $250 CAD + tax just to do an inspection at the dealer. I am planning to ask my mechanic to look at it during an oil change by the mechanic( I usually diy with a Pela marine pump myself). Please report if the dealer will be doing it for free during an A8 service
