Now i'm thinking my subframe is ok after seeing others photos. My spring control arms and stop plates looked rusted so i bought replacements I havent yet installed. I cant believe the photo above where it looks like the metal is worn where it sits on the rubber pads of the stop plate, how does it get indented from rubber?
Noticed this when I was replacing the rear springs. I wired brushed off the rust and sprayed with harbor Freight grill and chassis epoxy paint. Bought a used set off ebay cheap from Cali salvage yards which look almost new.
Now looking at this photo i took last year frame looks fine where sitting on the stop plate, not worn like in the photo above.
Guess I lucked out. Wonder if it has to do with where certain subframes were manufactured.
Whenever I work on the car i take tons of photos so i can look at them on the computer screen and zoom in to see if i can find anything.
Have just got rid of my much loved W204 C200 Estate 2012. Discovered dreaded rear subframe rot, rust. Months of emails back and forth to Mercedes Customer Care at Head Office Australia. They are acting as if they are unfamiliar with this problem. I read with interest news of Warranty Extension in USA, Canada, UK, Europe and class action in USA. Meanwhile here in Australia NOTHING. Response from Mercedes Head Office, dealer, Mercedes body shop really disgraceful. I'm going back to BMW.
Anyone know if theres a way to register your car with Mercedes online, or have an updated address for customer service? I filled out and mailed one of the cards that comes with the operators manual informing Mercedes i bought the car but havent heard anything back at all. Searching online im not coming up with anything.

For me I told them it's failed an MOT and the garage told me it's covered by warranty and to contact them as its a part that should not be rusting like it is. They said they deal with it on a case by case basis and wanted the reg and vin to check with someone and theyd get back to me, called me back saying its been accepted.
I'm at the next problem with them, this was nearly 4 weeks ago now and the part is 'still on order' when I rang them today. I asked for written confirmation that its been accepted ect. cause they may just be fobbing me off and decided to start recording the phone calls. They refuse to give an ETA and its kind of frustrating now, if it takes much longer I'm going to have to just buy a new car and sell this whenever they decide to do it.
Do we have any legal grounds or maybe even the motor ombudsman can mediate this? Its bizarre that a fault this big across a selection of models over a decade hasn't been recalled - I'm guessing this is why they're doing it 'case by case' to not cost them millions in recalls and only deal with the people who contact them?
I guess it has affected me too. Car drifted after an abrupt stop. Took the car to the mechanic and he test drove it. Told me my rear subframe is damaged and needed replacement. Bought the car 5 years ago from the US at 137000 miles. It’s now 162000 miles. It’s a 2008 c 300.

Congratulations you get a free rear subframe. From my understanding the new subframe should come with all new bushings/silent blocks installed. This would be a great time to have any faulty rear control arms replaced, they should only charge you a minimal labor fee since most of the work is already being performed.
I only came across two instances where they say welding is approved for repairs. I'll show them just for everyones knowledge.
