Have you looked under your trunk trim...

Returned from the grocery run this morning and had a 'I wonder...' moment as I took items from the trunk. Five minutes later with trim tool in hand, sure enough- bunch of tree crap under there.

The trim buttons are just a simple peg into a rubber locator. They come out with minimal effort. While at I went ahead and pulled-up the trunk seal so I could clean the underside of it, and to be certain I fulled cleaned the bodywork. Thirty minutes later everything is cleaned, waxed and reassembled.

Worst part is that cross-hair looking,

molded-in surface stand-off is the cause the garbage getting plugged up.

I was just thinking about this the other day as I was getting something out of the trunk of my wife's C250. Good to know my hunch was correct that I need to pop that trim out! Thanks for the explanation about the little fastener plugs, I didn't try too hard to pop one out for fear of breaking off the head, but looks like I just need to use a better tool to get under the head.

Before starting I would have bet $20 the plugs were rigid 'trees'. But nope...

Leaks

If you ever notice water on the left or right side of your trunk it is the rubber part those push pins seat in. They are plugs for a hole in the panel and will dry rot and let water leak in.

Anyone know the numbers or have pictures of what/where these are? I'm getting water in the bottom of the trunk (and both sides) when I wash the car.

Thanks!

There are multiple pictures in the first post of this thread that show where the rubber plugs are. I don't know the part numbers to get new ones.

Bah you're right. A bunch of mine are missing, so I've got to figure out how to get some new ones.

Push pins

I couldn't find my receipt with the part # but if you go to dealer they should be able to look it up for you. My local dealer had them in stock. If I remember correctly they were a dollar or so each

What? You can't read the tiny part number on the side?

Try A 000 991 59 40 or just 0009915940.
