Question unused wire/plug under glovebox

I was changing the cabin filter the other day and getting ready to reinstall the panel under the glovebox, when I noticed this wire/plug hanging there unplugged. Note, this is not the one that plugs into the little bulb on the panel, as I had already plugged that one back in.

Not sure if it was accidentally unplugged when the panel was removed, and no idea where to plug it back in, so I just reinstalled the panel as-is, and all seems to be well (no check engine/warning lights or loss of any functionality as far as I can tell).

Any idea what this wire/plug is for, or if it's supposed to be disconnected for some option that I don't have? (I have an 08 C300 with only the multimedia package and automatic tranny as options). Seems odd for there to be some unused wire/plug hanging there so just making sure it's supposed to be that way...

Ah, sounds kinda important then...is that supposed to plug into something in the panel under the glovebox, or somewhere else near the glovebox itself?

It plugs in the plastic pannel you droped to access the cabin air filter.
When I last renewed my filter, I think HVAC registered missing sensor... had to clear the code.

That would be great! Was gonna try finding where it plugs into again, but since I didn't find it last time, a photo would definitely help.

A pic of the sensor would also be useful so I can see if it's missing (even though I don't recall anything falling out)

Some posts tell of a ambient temp sensor located on the interior surface of the plastic panel covering the PS side center tunnel, interior foot well area .

Ah, so it was right in front of me the whole time...just needed to tilt the panel a bit to see it

Feel like such a fool...much appreciated anyhow!
