My C300 sport has 104k miles. Front wheels were shimmying at @ 60mph so i took it in to my mechanic.
REPLACE FRONT SUBFRAME AND ARMS; REPLACE AIR INJECTION PUMP; REPLACE VACUUM PUMP;CYLINDER HEAD PLUGS RESEAL
Total estimate is around $ 6750.00, including near $ 600.00 to fix (not replace) side mirror and other misc. things. As it's only worth $8000 tops is there any other ch choice between paying up or selling it for scrap? I need some clear thinking on this so I would appreciate any wisdom y'all can offer. thanks

Get another quote see another mechanic. What they have quoted is absolutely ridiculous. I have 100,000 miles on my 2009C 300 sport it’s in perfect condition.

You don't need the subframe or engine-related repairs, based on your symptoms described.

Probably lower control arms only. Possibly ball joints or tie rods.

Get another opinion. Tell the shop you want only the parts replaced that are related to wheel shimmy.

That's a good idea that wouldn't occur to me. I am going to ask to see the car on the rack so they can point out the damage they're claiming needs to be fixed. I'm trying to get other quotes now, as well. thanks
