Angry 2014 C300 W204 Blower Issue

My 2014 C300 has a blower that over the past few days has been acting weird, turning up and down on its own. And today, it won't blow at all. Mind you, it's like -30C/-22F here in Toronto over the past few days. I've let the car warm up a few degrees to "room temperature" in the garage, without running - I just tried, and even at a warmer temp, still no response from the fan. Went from like a "stutter" to complete death.

Question ... is it safe to assume the fan went? How can I test the entire thing?

I went to MB, it's like $400 just to check they said, that's before even telling me what's wrong! I can buy a used motor from a junkyard for a 1/4 of that! They must think they have me by the ***** because of the freezing temps and my wanting to get this fixed!?

Any suggestions?

Same has happened to me and others in last week or so... i replaced the blower motor... but bought the wrong regulator... the right one will be here in a few days... i took out the glove box and the motor replacement was simple... hope the regulator solves it

So I ripped it out today, and found that the passenger side footwell panel, the insulation part of it, was a tiny bit damp. After inspecting the motor itself, the black plastic housing was perhaps about 10% wet as well. The hole that the fan came out of seemed to be only about 5% wet in the same area. So condensation seems to be the culprit? Guessing with the extreme cold, and the heat in the blower, there has been condensation forming in there. As there is no other trace of water from anywhere, not even when looking from the engine side of things. Question now is how do I stop it from happening again? I'm popping another newer motor in there. Would hate to have to go though this again. Thoughts? Thanks
