That sounds like a leak. I don’t have those low temps in SE Texas, buy my C250 developed porosity in a plastic coolant pipe and intermittently would lose about ½ liter of coolant. The leak was a pin hole in a hard place to detect and I found it by accident while under the hood with the engine running.

I agree, I can see topping up once a year but its a little much. I don't see any leaks and I parked it on fresh clean snow, I'll have to get to a lift and see if I can find it from underneath.

Nothing on mine ever made it to the ground. I was about to take it in so my mechanic could ad UV detection fluid to find it. I opened the hood for a routine oil check and there it was, spraying a needle sized line onto the turbo shield. It was intermittent, only spraying for about a minute or two then stopping.
Not really knowing if that was enough of a leak, I went ahead and replaced the part which was inexpensive and very easy. It hasn’t been low in many months now.
Locating a leak on the C300 may be harder because the engine compartment is more crowded than the C250. Happy hunting!

I was just outside for 10 minutes the damn engine bay is bone dry, I left the car running and could not see a thing.I bet its going to be in a weird spot. I cant remember if I added to much distilled water in the bottle its usually 50/50 but I might of done a 60/40 mix because I was in a pinch. Maybe the water just evaporated and thats why its was low this time, Ill check it in the morning when the engine is cold to see if the level has dropped.
The car has been a bullet proof beast so if it is something I cant complain I'm at 200,000+ KM on it. i've only done a oil changes, secondary air pump, brakes and tires. I forgot I also killed a duck with it so its been good lol...

It could be the plastic coolant reservoir that is letting out stem slowing. Check and see if you see a lot of white powdery stuff around there.
Another place to check is in post #11 and below in this post.
If the coolant is leaking while car is operational, it may evaporate under heat and you don't see anything.
