Hi, I really need help from someone who has done this before. I'm replacing a high pressure fuel pump on my 2014 c250 and everything went smooth untill I had to put the new pump in. I'm having issues alining the little knobs on the pump with the holes in the engine block. Do I keep the small metal peice on the pump or pre-instal it into the block? I have the intake manifold removed but I dont have a crane to lift the engine up. I attached 2 pictures of what I'm talking about. Please help and thx😭
I haven’t done this repair on mine yet but I did see people take the old part off and put it on the new pump before installing it. There will be an alignment necessary. Compare the gear position to the pump that you removed. If it’s not in the same position it won’t slide into position. Check YouTube the vid below seems to discuss that part. Hopefully someone chimes in that has already done this!
