By the way, every window regulator I have ever worked on has been riveted in place. You drill out the original and replace it with another rivet or a small bolt and nut.
Ditto. That rivet is literally a pop rivet and they come in boxes by the thousands, unless, of course, you’re a Mercedes dealer and they come wrapped separately with part numbers on the package. I have a box of 2500 with assorted sizes and strengths that I paid about $9 for.

@FIREfreezerC250 Sorry to hear you’re getting hosed on costs. To keep an older Benz without a warranty, you’re really gonna have to tackle stuff like that yourself.

Well, I go through one of those automatic car wash machines, and halfway through my speakers stop working...
First, there is no excuse for returning a customer's car dirtier than when they brought it in. That kind of sloppiness makes me question the quality and thoroughness of the other work done. Second, avoid automatic car washes! The ones that use high pressure water will certainly get water somewhere inside the car. The ones with spinning brushes or heavy cloth strips that undulate back and forth are likely to scratch the surface of the car. I understand if you can't wash a car where you live, but there is likely one of those wash-it-yourself places where you feed a bucket of quarters to wash the car for five minutes.

Yes, I am realizing that I will never use one of those automatic car washes again.

@Odd Piggy I agree, I need to start doing stuff like this myself. I just didn't want to mess the door up and not be able to put the panel back on correctly. But what should I do about my speakers? Do you think it was a fuse that has blown? And if so, where is that fuse located? I know there's a fusebox in the engine bay, another under the steering wheel, and another right next to the right brake light.

I just don't understand how MB makes their cars so that they can't even get wet without shorting the speakers....

I kinda meant that you have an 11 or 12 year old car. Not knowing its life history, it may not be fair to judge good or bad.
