2011 C250 Winter Tires

Sorry if you guys have answered this a million times; but I am new to this vehicle.

My standard tires are;

225 45 17 front
225 40 17 rear

My first question would be what size winter tire do I get? And should all 4 be the same?
Next question is, are the 4 wheels offset the same or different front and back

Tank you all

Chris

I think you mean 245/40-17 for the rear, not 225/40-17, right?

In the US there were both non-staggered and staggered 17" wheels from the factory; the different sizes are listed in the Owner's Manual. Since I think you have staggered tire sizes (assuming my correction of the rear tire size is correct), you presumably have the staggered wheels. You could get 225/45-17s for all 4 (a 225/45 will fit just fine even on the wider rear wheel), or you could do the staggered tires (225/45s and 245/40s) that you have now. It doesn't really matter. I would probably just stick with the stock sizes.

Yes 245, good catch - Thank you

So I guess tire rotation is limited to left to right?

With the staggered wheels, yes. Even if you elect to put 225/45s all around, you wouldn't be able to (or want to) put the wider wheels up front. You could rotate front-rear by dismounting and remounting the tires, but that's not particularly economical.

Another option is to go with another set of wheels, rather than sticking with the stock wheels. I don't know if you have the room or desire to have a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires. My wife has some 16" wheels with 215/55-16 winter tires on them for her '14 C250. They're a square setup, so they can be rotated, and the 16" tires are cheaper than 17"s.
