[Tutorial] Loud Blower Motor Fix
Hi
so I recently had the issue of a loud blower motor that gave off a constant squeal on lower speeds
This is how to fix it without any replacement parts and only a few tools
Panel under dashboard lowered from passenger footwell to gain access to the blower motor
Bottom view of the blower motor assembly
Use a sharp drill bit and only drill the plastic housing! It is around 3mm thick plastic
Finally pack some heavy duty grease into the hole you drilled previously & cap it off with a rubber grommet
enjoy your nice quiet fan
hope this helps some of you guys

MBWorld Fanatic!
Great post! This is the kind of thing we’ll need to keep these cars running as they age and parts are no longer made. The W163 SUVs (1998-2005) are running into parts availability issues taking them out of service now.
BTW — What was that red grease that you used? I’m considering wheel bearing or CV joint grease on mine.

I bought it to repack the rear wheel bearings on the Boxster.
