Question about C300
Hello everyone,
Hope you are doing great, lads. I am in the process of getting a new car, however I wanted to do my research a bit better beforehand. My current car is C350 2008 272HP and the main reason why I wanted to change is mostly due to the fuel consumption . My requirements are that I want to stick to gasoline and not diesel, to be facelift and somewhat better in terms of fuel consumption compared to my C350 as it burns around 16mpg to L 100km. I stopped at C300 but 2013 year as I heard it's better from 2012 in terms of this. However, I am finding different statistics about how much burn but mostly it states it's 18-19 mpg, hence my question here to those who own this model, could you please share your observations about this. And also will I be wrong in getting C300 if it comes to fuel economy?

FWIW, my 2009 C300 4Matic, basically same engine as 2012, gets 21.6 mpg {city driving) and 26.3 mpg steady highway at 72 mph average speed. It can use Regular, 87 octane even though 91 preferred with no evidence of knock or increase in Fuel Trim per my scanner.

Thank you gamma, would you mind if you share what are the most problematic things that could occur in this model? Overall it really depends on a lot of factors but as far as I know every model has at least one weak spot, do you happen to know what is the spot for this model? Appreciate it in advance

I think a Search on this Forum site and the WEB in general will provide you with a more complete list than I could spout...no expert I ! The ESL motor failure seems most mentioned. My C300 was purchased pre-owned at 53K miles, sits at 82K today and has had a burnt out brake light and that's it. Replaced plugs, trans mount for something to do. Mobil 1 0W40 Euro / fleece filter once a year, less than 10K miles.

Mine is 2011 C300 Sports RWD. I used to drive mostly highway at 75 mph, on the mileage meter it shows 30+ mpg if I keep steady speed, any time I accelerate it would go down to 10 or lower mpg depending on how hard my foot is. When I start to drive, I often tap the shifter to the right a few times to let it **** to higher gear sooner. I have not calculated the actual mpg with how many gallons I filled and how many miles driven. The window sticker says 18 - 26 mpg.
