W204 AC light flashing
2012 Cd220 wagon, AC not working, light flashes on AC button. Took car to an AC “specialist” who said he drew and held a vacuum on the system and as all was good, recharged with refrigerant and dye. I drove it away and AC was working good. I stopped and went back about an hour later, now not working, AC light flashing. Took it back to specialist who said he’d check with a UV light but that it was probably the condenser.
I left the car with them and upon collection he showed me the condenser, it had been destroyed removing it, so no way of knowing if this really had been leaking, although he did show me a dark area on the fins that was where the refrigerant had been leaking. Anyway, he’d fitted a new condenser and said there were no other leaks. I tried the AC and not working, light flashing. Perplexed he put more gas in and it worked. I drove it home, ice cold during the hour long trip, left it for an hour or so, went out to test it, AC light flashing.
It’s going back to the specialist this morning so I’m hoping for any ideas from members here that I might be able to assist him. For example, could a faulty pressure switch give me these symptoms? Can you measure the system pressure if the compressor is not running?
Any help gratefully accepted.
thanks Chris
