The intake manifold housing on my C280 V6 appears to have some sort of issue. Anyone seen this before and/or have any idea on what may be causing it or know if it’s going to be an issue later on?

Is that a hole? I'm dealing with some issues with my intake manifold but not like that. On mine it looks like someone sprayed flex seal at that area in your photo and also on the right side. very strange. I poked around but cant see any cracks or reason for it. Mine has 150k and oily gunk im trying to address. Your photo looks like a blown out hole.

It’s not a hole…..yet. I haven’t ventured to poke what’s left, less it becomes one! The outer layer appears to have failed in some weird way though. Not sure how thick the manifold is but I expect what’s left is quite thin. Funnily enough I was thinking of what I could spray on to hopefully stop it from getting worse or maybe put on some araldite or similar hardening compound. Could be what someone has done to yours.
Its not exactly what you have, but they talk about repairing the manifold. I will say if my manifold ever went id be looking on ebay for a used one, look at Cali salvage yards. Hard to tell from the photo so no idea. Could just be a coating coming off.
