I just purchased a car from a private seller. 2009 Mercedes C 300 4matic luxury. We jump-started it and it ran fine. When I got home the car would not start again. I purchased a new battery and it still doesn't start.

One more thing, as a new Mercedes owner, get yourself a Mercedes specific scanner--not some generic OBD reader. It will pay for itself almost immediately. You now own a sophisticated automobile (though old) and need to be prepared to spend money where needed. The first step is to get a scanner!
Your 2009 does not have a secondary battery..just the "usual" one in the front PS side engine compartment. Confirm your new battery has good voltage at rest, 12.8 V or there abouts. Do your headlights, accessories work with the key turned to ON position, all dash lights illuminate ? If headlights weak, battery not charged...if headlights dim while trying "Start", same thing. Batteries can have a dead cell defect off shelf. Did you try to jump start it again ?
I tried jump-starting my car, but it didn't work. I then bought a new battery and tried jump-starting it again, but it still didn't work. I took the new battery to two different places to get it tested, but both places said that it was fine.
Nothing powers up..lights, horn, dash lights ?? Hopefully your OBDII connection is up. If no sign of power anywhere (Edit: if it "clicked" on Start, volts are flowing somewhere), keep the idea that the pyrofuse and it's nearby fusible links may be the problem but your C300 isn't there yet hopefully.
These replaceable fuses are under the plastic cover that your + jumper tab juts through, red sliding cover. These blow when a major surge occurs....failed alternator regulator allowing overcharge, shorted high amp accessory like starter, alt. , and rarely from jump start gone awry. Forum Search , Google Search has info. about this, where you can get new fusible links, DIY stuff if it ever comes to that and you are in to it.

I would try wacking the starter with a hammer but its a pain to reach from underneath, I got a jeep to start that way but only once or twice before I ended up replacing the starter which was the issue. Not sure it will work, but cant hurt to try. If you have a multimeter check the battery voltage, then check it when youre turning the key trying to start the car to see if its drawing power. I doubt its the battery since you went through 2 plus had it jumped. Could be the starter, the wiring like bad ground, bad connection to the starter, maybe a relay.

BlueDrive is good for scanning and clearing some codes, and it will support multiple vehicle brands, but it is not as full-featured as the others. But for now, you may not need those features.
(FWIW, I have collected multiple scanners over the years and do not regret having them. The BlueDriver you can keep in the console or glove box. The others would have to fit elsewhere.)
is that the first time scanning the vehicle? If so may try clearing the codes, then try starting it a few times to see what current codes show. First time I scanned with a good scanner it had a bunch of codes, i cleared them and most if not all were gone.
Oh, I didn't realize that. I wanted the codes to be included so I could understand what was happening. However, I can delete them and start over from scratch.
I'm excited to give these awesome suggestions a try! But if for some reason they don't work out, I'll need to reach out to a pro and have them tow it away.

I ask because I found a few people who had similar issues and it appeared it was a faulty electronic steering lock (ESL).
The reason to delete the codes is they may have been from awhile ago, one time issue due to a gremlin and they arent current. For example if you disconnect the battery a code or two may pop up as a result, but the codes arent relevant anymore.
Regarding the steering wheel, it moves about two inches in either direction, regardless of whether the key is in or out. I cleared the codes, and this is the only issue that remains. See attached.
