Not starting
Took it to the dealer today for a multipoint inspection and fluid topoff. Everything checked fine except that the parking lamp was malfunctioning.
So I brought it home and replaced it with LED lamps (had it lying around). After verifying that the parking lamps are working properly tried to crank up the engine. Car wouldn't start. Not even a click.
The dashboard showed "SRS malfunction" and "ABS and ESP malfunction". The steering didn't sound like it is unlocking. So tried to twist steering wheel as much as possible and start it. Absolutely no clicks or engine trying to crank up. After trying for a few times, even that message disappeared.
I googled and it felt like the steering lock not releasing is the problem. Could this be possible?
Battery is about a year old. Tried to jump start car in case batter is weak but nothing happened.
I am out of ideas. The only thing I can think of was maybe I had the key turned up for about 20 minutes to see if parking lights are working fine. Not sure if this affected anything. Dealer told me to wait for a day and then try again.
Any ideas what is wrong?

Today the car was completely dead. Not a single light was working. The dashboard was completely dead. I removed the LED parking bulbs. Tried jump starting the battery. No luck. In fact stored charge on the battery charger was not going down. As if the battery was refusing to be jumpstarted.
Thought of trying out what is shown in this
Removed the relay from fuse box. But wasn't sure I should proceed further so put the relay back.
Then for some reason I tried to open the trunk manually with key. Noticed that one of the license plate lights was faintly on. Tried jump starting again and this time strangely noticed that the charge percentage of power in the jump started went down. After some time the charge on the jump started went down by almost 30%, and the car started ! I tried to re-insert the LED parking lamps but none of them worked. Are they fried? Were they causing my battery to go down?
ODB scanner did not give any codes.
Will try tomorrow to see if car starts again.

What kind of scanner are you using? It is specific to Mercedes or generic?

The scanner you link to looks like a very basic reader. It should tell you codes stored if it triggers a check engine light, but if there no check engine light on it probably wont tell you much.
Do you have a multimeter? Use it to see what voltage the battery has, see if its dead or not.
Are those LED lamps the correct bulbs? Which specific parking lamps are you talking about?
I read through this entire post and if im understanding correct you had the car turned to "on" but not running for 20 minutes? You installed "LED lamps" then you had the no start issues? And you did not use a battery charger, you used a jump starter?
I think your battery is just very low from the car on and needed a charge. If those are not the correct bulbs I would go get the right ones.

Yeah, not a scanner to use to identify problems with anything other than emissions problems. Get a right scanner for Mercedes. Check Amazon for:
- iCarsoft MB V3.0 (not MB II)
- Launch Creader Elite Benz
- Foxwell NT510 Elite
- BlueDriver

LED bulbs are easy to check. Can use a 9v battery. I made some jumpers with alligator clips or you can just use wire, or paper clips if you don't have any wire or even bread ties. Or if you have an old 9v powered electronic you don't use anymore rip out the battery connector. If the led bulbs dont light at first try switching the positive and negative. The bulbs below only work a certain way positive and negative.
